The Great British Bake Off star Alison Hammond has shared a sweet birthday tribute to her co-host Noel Fielding.

To celebrate Noel’s 51st lap around the sun, Alison posted a selfie of the pair to her Instagram Story, captioning it: "Happy birthday to this little treasure."

Last year, Noel shocked fans when he marked his milestone 50th birthday by posting a party selfie on Instagram, sparking a frenzy in the comments section about his age.

"50? Whose blood are you drinking?" joked one individual at the time, while another added: "It's an Ouuuuutrage …. How you haven't aged a bit. Wishing you all the best and the rest for the next fifty."

Noel recently ventured away from Bake Off tent to executive produce and star in Apple TV+'s The Completely Made-up Adventures of Dick Turpin.

The series stars the TV presenter as the titular British highwayman, who was cemented into folklore and legend after his exploits in the 1700s led to his execution.

Discussing the show and the similar feel it has to his cult TV series The Mighty Boosh, Noel told Digital Spy: "It's weird, because the writers that I work with are much younger than me. So they sort of grew up on Boosh as well.

"So sometimes they will say to me, 'Oh, that's a little bit Boosh.' Because they know all of the episodes, and I've forgotten them [laughs]."

He continued: "But I think because [Dick Turpin is] a period comedy, it feels different enough that I can do… That is kind of my humour, really. There's nothing I can do about it. I couldn't just go off and write an episode of Veep instead. It's not my bag."

The Great British Bake Off and its spin-off Bake Off: An Extra Slice both air on Channel 4 in the UK. In the US, it's known as The Great British Baking Show, and streams on Netflix.
