BAFTAs 2017 Nominees: 'La La Land' Takes the Lead as Meryl Streep Nabs Her 15th Nomination

The British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs) are hailed as the Oscars across the pond, and Tuesday, the nominees were announced for this year's awards show.

After sweeping the Golden Globes with the most awards on Sunday, La La Land led the pack with 11 BAFTA nominations, including Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone being up for acting awards.

Meryl Streep is also having a big year. After receiving the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the Golden Globes, the 67-year-old actress earned her 15th BAFTA nomination for her role in Florence Foster Jenkins. Her co-star, Hugh Grant, is also nominated for his role in the film.

Coming in behind La La Land is Tom Ford's Nocturnal Animals and the sci-fi film, Arrival, which each received nine nominations. Both movies also happen to star Amy Adams.
