Backstage After the 2017 CMT Awards: Winners' Reactions

From an all-star tribute to the late Gregg Allman to man rompers, the 2017 CMT Awards were filled with surprises, smiles, and stellar moments. However, the most important part of the night belonged to the winners recognized for their award-worthy music and video work.

Speaking backstage after the show, artists expressed joy, gratitude, and respect for their audiences. “Man, the fans, they never let us down,” enthused Tyler Hubbard of Florida Georgia Line, regarding the pair’s win for Duo Video of the Year.

Meanwhile, Lauren Alaina, who scored Breakthrough Video of the Year, laughingly noted how unprepared she was for her acceptance speech. “I left my parents out…I put Jesus like 15th!” she jokingly despaired.

The 2017 CMT Awards were held live June 7 at Nashville’s Music City Center.
