Bachmann: Obama killing OBL only ‘a tactical success,’ calls foreign policy a ‘strategic blunder’ [VIDEO]
On Sunday’s “State of the Union” on CNN, former Republican presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann she said that President Barack Obama’s foreign policy positions are his greatest weakness, and that Republicans shouldn’t be overly concerned about the heightened attacks among the candidates in the remaining GOP field.
“State of the Union” host Candy Crowley asked Bachmann if she was concerned about the current state of the GOP presidential race.
“No, not at all,” Bachmann replied. “Because what you’re seeing is candidates are showing the flaws in each other and of course you’re going to see the reduction in the numbers that these candidates will show, but President Obama also hasn’t necessarily been the focus of this race. That will all change. That dynamic will change very quickly. We have an excellent field of candidate and I think it’s important that we recognize that these are highly qualified individuals who will do an imminently far-superior job over President Obama.”
Bachmann also explained where she thought the remaining candidates were strong and where they can strike later in the process against the incumbent president.
“They’re right on how to handle the economy,” she said. “President Obama has been a disaster. And they understand foreign policy. Probably President Obama’s worst act as president has been on foreign policy. That hasn’t even begun to have the level of scrutiny that it needs to have.”
Bachmann did concede that Obama deserved some credit for killing terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden, but stopped short of high praise for the president, calling it a “tactical success” and not a “strategic” success.
“Of course, but that’s a tactical success,” she said. “But the strategic blunder is putting distance between the United States and Israel. That has a far incalculable level of detriment to the United States and our safety.”
