The Bachelorette's Jordan Rodgers Gives Awkward Interview About His Relationship with Brother Aaron: 'It's Complicated'

So, what exactly is the deal between The Bachelorette's Jordan Rodgers and his very famous brother Aaron Rodgers?

Jordan – currently a frontrunner on JoJo Fletcher's season of the hit ABC dating show – recently opened up about his relationship with his older brother Aaron, Green Bay Packers quarterback, while Skyping in for an interview on Katie Nolan's Garbage Time podcast.

When Nolan asked Jordan, 27, how close he is with Aaron, 32, the reality star hesitated.

"Um, we have a relationship," he said, before adding with a grin: "You know, it's complicated. I'll say that."



When asked about whether he's a Packers fan, Jordan said yes – but not for the reason you might expect.

"So one of my best friends in the world, Dave Bakhtiari, is [Aaron's] left tackle," Jordan explained. "I lived with David before the draft, so absolutely [I'm a Packers fan]. Since I played, I end up being a fan of watching guys that I played with. I don't really have a team that I root for."

Nolan went on to ask whether Aaron is watching the show, and Jordan again appeared to dodge the question.

"I'm sure everybody watches the show, so yeah," he said. "I think so, yeah."

So have they talked about it?

"I haven't gotten any pointers on my kissing or my dating," Jordan said with a laugh.

The former NFL quarterback, who now runs a nutrition and lifestyle coaching company, MetPro, also addressed rumors that he and Fletcher, 25, had spoken before appearing on the show together, which he strongly denied.

"[The show] was not even on my radar until literally nine days before we started filming," he said. "It came out of absolutely nowhere."

In fact, Jordan said he had barely even watched Fletcher on Ben Higgins' season of The Bachelor before going in – and didn't even know her full name is actually Joelle!

"I watched one of the episodes and then fell asleep during another one," he admitted. "I hadn't been watching the show, I decided I didn't want to 'cause I didn't want to be asking her questions I already knew the answer to. I didn't know [she was the Bachelorette] until I was already locked in a hotel room two days before the very first day."

As for the premise of the show, the Chico, California native revealed he was "very skeptical going in."

"It was hard to be myself but even more weird than that is when it gets normal and you start to not even notice the camera," he said. "I will say that it's hard for people to understand how real the relationship aspect can be because of what you see on TV. There's a lot of it that is production and drama that gets people watching, but I will say that the relationship aspect of it is pretty untouched as far as the production."

And the relationships that develop are actually "a lot more real than they seem," he said.

"No one will really understand it if you didn't go through it," he added – though he admitted that watching himself kiss on TV "was a weird one, for sure."

One of the best parts about the show, Jordan said, was being able to go off the map for several weeks with no cell phones, no television and no Internet access.

"You literally sit around and you develop relationships with the guys that are there and you talk about your feelings," he said. "You learn a lot more about yourself in the process."

In fact, Jordan maintained he became "good friends" with all the guys that were there – minus Chad Johnson, of course – and was probably closest with Robby Hayes.

Jordan also addressed some of the claims his fellow contestants have made against him this season, in which they alleged he's "not there for the right reasons."

"You know, it's a weird environment we're all put in as far as being on camera all the time, and you've got other people dating the girl you're starting to have feelings for," he said. "I don't hold anything against anybody that said anything. I'm not sure why they would have said it, I feel like I was there with very genuine intents, and I feel like everybody knew that, but obviously not quite as well as I thought. It's not true, so I laugh it off a little bit."

As for whether he might be the guy that gets down on one knee for Fletcher at the end?

"Stay tuned," Jordan said with a laugh. We sure will!

The Bachelorette returns Monday, July 11 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
