Former Bachelor star Chris Soules has been arrested for fleeing the scene of deadly car accident in Iowa, People reports. On Monday evening, Soules allegedly slammed into a tractor while in his Chevy pickup truck, according to KWWL.com. The John Deere tractor reportedly fell into a ditch after being rear ended by Soules's pickup, killing the tractor driver. Soules then allegedly fled the scene and was later identified by a witness, who called the police.

According to People, Soules was arrested by the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office early Tuesday morning and charged "with leaving the scene of a fatal car accident that left one individual dead."

Soules starred in Season 19 of The Bachelor in 2015 (after placing third on Andi Dorfman's season of The Bachelorette). The 35-year-old farmer from Arlington, Iowa, proposed to fertility nurse Whitney Bischoff at the end of his season, but the couple didn't last long, and broke off their engagement shortly after the season finale.

Since then, Soules has made appearances on recent seasons of The Bachelor, offering advice to stars such as Ben Higgins and Nick Viall (both of whom are still with their fiancées, Lauren Bushnell and Vanessa Grimaldi).

Tuesday morning, TMZ reported that Soules was in court for his arraignment. He has yet to publicly comment about the incident.

Update 4/24 4:30 p.m.: A spokesperson for Soules released an official statement to People saying that Soules is "devasted" over the accident. The statement reads: “Chris Soules was involved in an accident Monday evening (April 24) in a rural part of Iowa near his home. He was devastated to learn that Kenneth Mosher, the other person in the accident, passed away. His thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Mosher’s family.” People has obtained court documents which allege Soules was in possession of "alcoholic beverage containers" at the time of the accident."
