LEWISBURG, WV (WVNS) — Babydog, Governor Jim Justice’s famous bulldog, is out and about. The Governor said on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, that she is recovering well from recent surgeries.

West Virginia’s “First Dog” had the surgeries after she tore ACL tendons on both of her back legs, but she was riding high in her doggy stroller during a visit to Lewisburg Elementary School on Tuesday.

“Yeah, she’s doing good. You know, it was a big deal,” Gov. Justice said. “She was under general anesthesia for three-and-a-half hours and everything, but she’s doing really good. Her hair’s not growing back really fast, but she’s doing really good.”

Babydog sat calmly in her stroller, as usual, “sitting pretty” and waiting on Governor Justice, as people formed a line to pat her head.
