Tom Holland's Spider-Man made his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a guest appearance in Captain America: Civil War, and it looks like some of the Avengers could return the favour and guest in a Spidey sequel.

That's what Spider-Man: Homecoming director Jon Watts would like to happen, anyway.

Speaking to ScreenRant, Watts said: "I like to think of what (Spider-Man) could learn from Black Widow, but then I think he would be too nervous to even get a single word out.

While we'd prefer Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow to finally get her own film rather than play second-fiddle to yet another, the idea of Spidey being an awkward teenager around her does sound amusing.

Black Widow isn't the only hero on Watt's wishlist, however. He added that he'd love to see Spider-Man and Captain America "together, not fighting each other.

"I think would be fascinating. There are great moments between the two of them in the comics and to see what that would be like in this world would be pretty cool."

We're not sure if that one would happen though, as Chris Evans recently said that he only signed up to Avengers 3 and 4 because they will wrap everything up.

While on the promo trail, Tom Holland confirmed a fan theory that Peter Parker actually did appear in Iron Man 2.

Spider-Man: Homecoming comes out July 5 in the UK and July 7 in the US. Watch a trailer below:
