If official Avengers 4 teases are like light bulbs, then fan theories are like moths – you know they're going to swarm all over them.

And fittingly, the Russo brothers' latest Avengers teaser may literally be a light bulb – at least going by some of the theories doing the rounds.

The directors confirmed over the weekend that filming on the sequel to Avengers: Infinity War had "wrapped", accompanied by a very bright and mysterious picture.

So fans have been out in full force over what exactly the picture depicts, with everything from a police light, to Bucky Barnes' arm, to Captain America's coffin:

So what does this all mean? Is Captain America going to die? Is Captain America going to live? Is Loki coming back? Is Thanos going to die? Was it all a dream, and we'll wake up in the cupboard under the stairs? (Sorry, wrong franchise).

Either way, we all have a LOT of questions.

Meanwhile, Captain America actor Chris Evans recently wrapped filming on the new Avengers movie, though left some fans worried about his fate with a farewell post.

However, he later noted: "I should clarify that regardless of how Avengers 4 ends, I would have tweeted the exact same thing. That last day of filming was a very emotional day and it was the culmination of almost 10 years of filming and 22 movies, this unbelievable tapestry.

"You feel a lot more emotions than I think even I thought I'd feel. And I felt it was appropriate to share the gratitude. I know it had a ripple effect but I am neither confirming nor denying anything."

Avengers 4 will be released in the UK on April 26, 2019, and in the US on May 3, 2019. Avengers: Infinity War is out now on Blu-ray, DVD and digital download.
