Avelo Airlines will begin flying non-stop from Tweed New Haven Airport to Dulles International Airport in Washington, D.C., beginning July 12, the airline announced Tuesday. Introductory one-way fares will begin at $46.

Passengers must also pay for baggage and seat choices. Reservations can be made at aveloair.com.

“This exclusive nonstop service makes exploring the abundance of experiences our nation’s capital has to offer a fast and seamless journey,” said Avelo CEO Andrew Levy in a statement.

Gov. Ned Lamont said in a statement, “The addition of more destinations from Tweed helps expand access to the New Haven region, which means more opportunities to increase our economic viability and enhance business growth.

“Avelo’s continued growth in Connecticut is helping to strengthen connectivity for companies that are already here and will stimulate further regional development,” he said.

“I am so excited that Avelo will now offer my constituents flights to travel from New Haven to Washington, D.C.’s Dulles International Airport,” said U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro, D-3, in a statement.

“Avelo is doing amazing work to connect Southern Connecticut’s travelers to our nation’s Capital, and I am thrilled that residents now have expanded options to visit and experience everything Washington, D.C. has to offer,” she said.

Avelo began flying from Tweed in November 2021.
