Baton Rouge Community College is offering a free three-week training course this summer on electric vehicle technology operations and maintenance.

The no-cost training will be held Monday, May 20, through Friday, June 7, at the BRCC Automotive Training Center, 2115 N. Lobdell Blvd., in Baton Rouge. The three-week, in-person course will take place  from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Trainees will have a state-of-the-art curriculum to learn the standard electrical practices of repair technicians for electric vehicle supply technology such as fundamentals of electrical energy, preventative maintenance, charging stations, batteries and more that can help students become nationally certified Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) technicians, according to a BRCC press release.

The EVSE training course aligns with the Society of Automobile Engineers (SAE) International standards and is a global association of more than 128,000 engineers and related technical experts in the aerospace, automotive, and commercial vehicle industries. Their core competencies are life-long learning and voluntary consensus standards development.

Classroom seats are limited. To register or request more information, individuals can email their contact information to Shondra Johnson at johnsons@mybrcc.edu.
