Authorities seize thousands of bags of fentanyl during narcotics trafficking investigation in CT

Local and federal authorities carried out search warrants in the greater Norwalk area this week in connection with a six-month investigation into drug trafficking that has led to the seizure of thousands of bags of fentanyl and several arrests.

The three searches in Norwalk and one in Darien were carried out Monday by several cooperating law enforcement agencies, according to the Norwalk Police Department.

The agencies working together on the fentanyl trafficking investigation include the Norwalk Police Special Services Division, Norwalk Emergency Services Unit Tactical Response Team, Stamford Police Department Tactical team, Darien Police Department, U.S. Marshal’s Service and the DEA’s Bridgeport Office, police said.

According to police, 17 federal and state arrest warrants have been served in connection with the investigation. Additionally, authorities have seized about 15,000 bags of fentanyl, 300 grams of pure fentanyl, a firearm, cocaine and about $13,000 in cash.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
