Authorities searching for suspect who allegedly shot step-father in Lockeford

Mar. 20—The San Joaquin County Sheriff's Department is searching for a man suspected of shooting his step-father on Tuesday night in Lockeford.

Shortly before 9 p.m. on Tuesday, the department responded to a shooting incident between family members at the 19000 block of N. Jack Tone Road in Lockeford. Upon arrival, deputies found a male victim with a gunshot wound to his abdomen that was determined to be caused by his step-son, Brendan Stiles Briggs, 24, during a domestic incident, authorities said.

Briggs fled from the scene and refused to meet with deputies. He was last seen wearing a red hoodie, black pants, and carrying a red Adidas backpack. He possibly fled on a black and white Huffy bicycle. Briggs is now wanted for attempted murder and several fresh gun charges, as well as a no-bail warrant out of Merced County for carrying a loaded firearm.
