Authorities searching for juvenile who escaped from St. Landry Parish Jail
ST. LANDRY PARISH, La. (KLFY)– A juvenile, who is considered armed and dangerous, escaped from the St. Landry Parish Jail, and authorities are requesting the public’s help with finding him.
On Jan. 19, three juveniles took a deputy’s jail and vehicle keys, opened the jail doors and took the deputy’s vehicle.

Two of the juveniles were found and taken back in, but Dereon Freeman, the third juvenile, is still roaming free, according to authorities. The deputy’s vehicle that was stolen was recovered in Eunice.
Authorities described Freeman as a black male who is 5 feet 3 inches tall, weighs approximately 120 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen in Eunice on the 200 block of South Beulah Street.

He is wanted on escape charges and was serving time for two counts of attempted second degree murder.
Authorities urge the public to stay alert and contact the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office if Freeman is seen. People can also download SLPSO’s P3 app and tap the app to “Say it Here” and submit anonymous tips.
