RINGWOOD, N.J. (PIX11) – A 63-year-old woman who went missing Sunday while hiking in Ringwood State Park has been found safe, according to Ringwood police.

The woman went out on a hike near Skylands Manor during the early afternoon. But when she didn’t get back by dinnertime to her home in Wayne, New Jersey, her family reported her missing.

The woman went into the woods without her cellphone, which she left in her car in the parking lot, police said.

The woman was eventually found wandering in Sloatsburg, New York, about 4 miles away from where she went missing. She was physically unharmed but disoriented, authorities said.

An alert homeowner in Sloatsburg called authorities after seeing the missing woman wandering past their house on their Ring doorbell camera.

“It is important to thank the community with this,” New Jersey State Park Police Chief George Fedorczyk said. “How many of us get Ring cameras that buzz and we just take a glance at it … This individual took the time, recognized, was aware of the situation, and appropriately called the authorities.”
