Authorities continue search for man who jumped in Red River last week

Jun. 28—GRAND FORKS — Authorities are continuing to search for a

man who jumped into the Red River on Wednesday, June 22

.

The man was reported having jumped into the river shortly after 4:30 p.m. near the Sorlie Bridge. Earlier in the evening East Grand Forks Police were dispatched to 208 2nd Ave. NW for an "unwanted person," according to a news release.

Officers attempted to throw a buoy and life jacket to the man, but he wasn't able to grab the items. At this time the name of the man isn't being released.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office, Grand Forks Water and Rescue, East Grand Forks Fire and Grand Forks Fire have been assisting with the search.
