Authorities ask for help identifying woman whose body was found in Illinois River

A woman's body was recovered from the Illinois River on Friday, May 24, and the Peoria County Sheriff's Department and Peoria County Coroner are seeking help investigating the case.

Sheriff Chris Watkins said in a news release an employee at Mosaic Fertilizer, in the 8700 block of Cargill Road in Hollis Township near Illinois Route 9, found the body in the water about 20 feet from the shore at about 1:45 p.m.

The Peoria County Sheriff's Office and the Peoria County Coroner’s Office were working to identify the person who was found as well as the cause of death.

The coroner released a description of the woman on Friday as a white female, aged 18 to 30, 5 feet 6 inches tall and about 160 pounds, with a tattoo on her right forearm written "INTEGRITY" and indications of orthopedic surgery on her left upper arm, with evidence of plates and screws in that arm.
