Firefighters rescued one person and three cats from a house fire in east Austin late Monday night.

Around 11 p.m., the Austin Fire Department posted to X that its crews had responded to a fire in the 3100 block of Garwood Street. AFD initially reported one person was injured and was being attended to by medics from Austin-Travis County EMS.

Fire crews also rescued a cat from the residence and worked to revive it. That cat survived, along with two additional cats found in the house.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire and the extent of damages related to it, according to the fire department. Additional details are not yet available.
