Aurora man gets 29 years for strangling girlfriend to death

AURORA, Ill. — An Aurora man received 29 years in prison Thursday for strangling to death his girlfriend and mother of his child.

Getzuri Arellano was found guilty of first-degree murder on March 15 and the incident happened during the early morning hours of Dec. 9, 2020.

Evidence was presented at trial that showed Arellano secretly went through the phone of Natalie Jimenez’s phone. An argument ensued and at some point he grabbed the 20-year-old’s neck and strangled her to death.

Jimenez is the mother of his three-year-old child.

He must serve the full sentence and receives credit for 1,256 days already served in jail.
