Augusta man, 60, dies in moped crash on Peach Orchard Road

An Augusta man is dead after a crash early Sunday on Peach Orchard Road.

Robert Brown, 60, of Augusta, was pronounced dead just after midnight, according to a news release from the Richmond County Coroner's Office.

Brown was riding a moped north on Peach Orchard Road when he hit the side of a vehicle turning onto Harold Road, according to the release. He was taken to Wellstar/MCG by EMS, where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy has been scheduled, according to the coroner's office.
