The Birth of Route 66 Festival is expected to liven the streets of downtown Springfield.

It won't be the only form of entertainment this week in the heart of the Queen City.

Adjacent to the annual classic car extravaganza will be concurrent comedy acts at respective venues, Blue Room Comedy Club and The Landers Theater, on Friday and Saturday night.

Comedian Hannibal Buress will be performing at Blue Room Aug. 10-12 and funny man Tim Meadows is booked at Landers Theater Aug. 11-12.

The two comics and actors are part of one of the better months in Springfield's comedy history.

Here's a look at a lineup that includes some of the industry's hottest comics, including three with their Netflix specials.

Mark Normand, Gillioz Theater (Aug. 25): Weeks after the debut of his Netflix special "Soup to Nuts," Normand, who often attracts theater-sized crowds, will be in Springfield.

Normand, who had performed at the Blue Room in previous years, has since been dubbed the best up-and-coming comic by Jerry Seinfeld. Many comedy pundits consider him one of the top talents in the industry. Known for his distinct, and dark, style of humor, Normand became more known in 2020 after his self-released special “Out To Lunch” generated more than 10 million views on Youtube.

Normand is doing one 7 p.m. show during his August 25 appearance with tickets ranging from $50 to $160.
