Audi A8 Recalled Over Fire Risk

Audi is recalling 6,633 of its A8 luxury sedans (including some high-performance S8 versions) because of a fire risk. Certain cars from the 2013 through 2015 model years have a fuel line that could become porous over time, leading to a fuel leak. That kind of leak near an ignition source creates the risk of a fire, Audi said.
Cars built between June 2012 and July 2014 received the suspect part. (A new, stiffer part was put into production starting in July 2014; it is said to be less susceptible to this problem.) The automaker notes that occupants may notice a fuel smell if the problem has developed.
A repair has been identified, but the company continues to investigate the cause of the leak, according to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration documentation.
The Audi A8 recall is scheduled to begin Aug. 21.
The Details
Vehicles recalled: 2013 to 2015 Audi A8 models (including high-performance S8 version) built from June 2012 through July 2014.
The problem: The fuel supply line that connects to the fuel pump may become porous over time and leak gasoline.
The fix: Dealers will replace the fuel line free of charge.
