Auctions, raffle, drawings, ticket sales support Humane Society's annual fundraiser

The Humane Society Serving Crawford County will have its annual Puttin' on the Dog fundraiser Friday at 5:30 p.m. at the Hub at Village Square in Crestline. The event is the 15th annual, and the 10th sold out.

The auction is the largest annual fundraiser for the organization, which is privately funded, said Victoria Caldwell, executive director.

“We are a self-funding organization,” Caldwell said. “Our fundraisers are very important.”

The funds are used for daily operations as well as shelter outreach programs, such as the pet food pantry and helping with pet medical needs.

Last year the event generated a little over $16,000 after expenses, said Caldwell. The fundraiser benefits from ticket sales, auctions and donations that “come in from all over the community.”

Tickets were sold out this year

Tickets sold for $40 and tables were $400. The prices include dinner and dessert assortment. Caldwell estimated the number of guests will be around 200.

“We do this every year to help fund our shelter programs here in Crawford County,” Caldwell said.

Ben Higgins Realty and Auction will auctioneer the event. Live and silent auctions, a raffle and drawings will include a bourbon and a wine draw, as well as gift certificates, custom made cheesecakes, coolers and grills and other prizes.

The event also will feature music by One Foot in the Grave North Central Ohio.

“This is a fun event, and this is something that many people come to, and they look forward to every year,” Caldwell said. “Lots of different opportunities to spend money and help the Humane Society, as all of the funds stay right here in Crawford County to help the society.”
