Attempted murder suspect arrested in Boulder after scooter traffic stop

DENVER (KDVR) — A scooter traffic stop in Boulder led to the arrest of a man wanted on attempted murder out of Aurora.

According to the Boulder Police Department, an officer watched two men on scooters weave in and out of traffic and go through a red light at University Avenue and Broadway at 8 p.m. on Friday. The officer also said the scooters did not have license plates and the two men were not wearing helmets or the required eye protection.

The officer activated his siren and pulled over the scooter riders with the assistance of another officer.

The two men allegedly told officers they were delivering food.

According to Boulder police, one rider identified himself as his brother’s name and gave his date of birth. However, when the man showed the officer a driver’s license, he admitted that he lied and that the man in the photo was his brother.

The man allegedly told officers he lied because he did not have a legal ID and instead provided a passport.

Once the Boulder officer checked the man’s identity, he learned the man had a nationwide warrant out for his arrest. The man was wanted on attempted first-degree murder after deliberation.

He was taken to jail on a $100,000 bond.
