Details: On 13 March, an air attack caused a fire at one of the largest oil processing plants in Russia, the Rosneft plant of the JSC Ryazan near Moscow. The operation of a smaller Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery in the south of Rostov Oblast was also halted by a drone attack, which added to the damage caused by a similar incident at Lukoil’s Norsi refinery on 12 March.

The strike on the oil refinery in Ryazan, located about 200 km away from Moscow, was launched on a facility that produces 17.1 million tonnes of oil products a year, or about 340,000 barrels per day. The Ryazan oil refinery is the main supplier of petrol for the capital regions of Russia.

Later on 13 March, the operation of the Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery in the south of Rostov Oblast was halted after a drone attack, as reported by Vasilii Golubev, the governor of the region. The capacity of the plant is 5.6 million tonnes per year or about 112,000 barrels per day.

Russia’s Defence Ministry stated that at night the military "intercepted" 58 drones in Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kursk, Ryazan and Leningrad oblasts in Russia. This was one of the largest attacks in the last few months.

Three facilities struck with Ukrainian drones within the last two days account for 12% of Russian oil processing capacities.
