Athletics Twitter account trolls David Price on Dennis Eckersley Bobblehead Day
It’s Dennis Eckersley Bobblehead Day for the Oakland Athletics, which means that the first 15,000 at the Oakland-Alameda Coliseum on Saturday get to take home their very own little Eck. The Athletics’ Twitter account tweeted a pic of the bobblehead, which looks pretty sweet. But along with that picture, the tweet delivered something else: a sick burn.

That is some high quality trolling of David Price right there. The tweet is a callback to the nasty dust-up that happened between Price and Eckersley back in June. Eckersley is a Boston Red Sox analyst for NESN, and he was critical about one of Eduardo Rodriguez’s rehab starts during a broadcast. Price took offense to this, and he reportedly confronted Eckersley on a team flight by mocking and yelling at him.

The incident didn’t make Price look too good. Price came off as a bully, upset at Eckersley for just doing his job. So this is a well-earned troll job — even though Saturday happens to be Price’s 32nd birthday. (Hopefully no one showed him that tweet.)
It’s actually a big weekend for Eckersley. On Friday, the Athletics renamed Gate D at the Coliseum after the pitcher, who spent nine years of his 24-year playing career with the A’s.

But the tribute doesn’t end with just the gate. The tunnel behind the gate is just one big Dennis Eckersley love fest.

The A’s Twitter account is right. Priceless.
