ATF: Deadly Tenn. house explosion was not accident
LEBANON, Tenn. (AP) — Federal investigators at the scene of a deadly house explosion in Middle Tennessee say they have ruled out any accidental cause of the blast that killed one person.
Agents with the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were in Lebanon, Tenn., Tuesday trying to determine what caused the blast and where it happened in the house.
Agency spokesman Michael Knight said investigators have ruled out accidental causes in Monday's explosion such as a gas leak or electrical malfunction.
Knight said authorities searched the property Monday night but found no other explosives. He said it appears to be an isolated incident.
The house is intact but several rooms were damaged by the blast, Knight said.
Investigators were processing evidence at the scene and interviewing neighbors, Knight said.
An injured person was also found at the scene, but Knight said authorities were still trying to determine whether the injury was caused by the explosion.
He did not know the status of the injured person Tuesday morning.
