Aston Martin Vantage GT12 Roadster: This Is It

From Road & Track

Normally, you don't want to cut the roof off a track-focused car. It messes with body rigidity, slows you down, and generally makes the car worse at laying quick laps. But what a wealthy customer wants, a wealthy customer gets, and the latest example of that is this-the Aston Martin Vantage GT12 Roadster.

The car it's based on, the Vantage GT12, is the most hardcore Aston Martin Vantage you can buy, second only to the ultra-limited-edition Vulcan in Aston's lineup. Its naturally-aspirated V12 engine makes 595 horsepower, 461 lb.-ft. of torque, and one incredible noise. Oh, does it sound good.

Apparently one customer loved that exhaust note so much, it was worth paying Aston Martin to build one with no roof to block that sound. We can't blame that customer one bit.

Removing the top isn't the only thing Aston's done to this Vantage GT12, though. It's also tuned the suspension, added a full titanium exhaust, and modified a few of the body panels. When this thing fires up, there's no doubt it's going to sound incredible.

As far as cost, well, we suspect commissioning a one-off Aston Martin doesn't come cheaply.

And if you're at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend, be sure to check it out while it's on display.
