Ashanti, Ja Rule to perform outdoor concert at Inn of the Mountain Gods

Singer and songwriter Ashanti and rapper Ja Rule will perform in an outdoor concert June 18 at the Inn of the Mountain Gods in Mescalero.

Doors will open at 4 p.m. and the show will start at 8 p.m.

Ashanti is a Grammy-winning artist who hit the ground running with her debut album Ashanti in 2002. It landed the number one spot on both the Billboard Top 200 and R&B album charts.

Over the span of her 20-year career, Ashanti has released six studio albums and received a number of awards including eight Billboard Awards, a Grammy, two American Music Awards, two Soul Train Awards and six ASCAP Awards.

She has ruled as one of Billboard’s Top Females of the Decade from 2000-2010 and continues to break Billboard records having a Hot 100 entry every decade in the 2000s, 2010s and 2020s.

This spring, she will receive a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Ja Rule debuted in 1999 with "Venni Vett Vecci" and his lead single "Holla, Holla." His hits include "I'm Real," and "Ain't It Funny," — both with Jennifer Lopez. He also had a number of hits with Ashanti, including "Always on Time" and “Mesmerize”.

Rule has been nominated for two American Music Awards and four Grammy Awards.

As of 2018, Rule has sold 14.4 million units in the United States and over 30 million records worldwide, according to a news release.
