Ascension Parish deputies arrest man accused of stealing cash, guns from cars

PRAIRIEVILLE, La. (BRPROUD) — Detectives arrested one out of three suspects in connection to multiple car burglaries in Prairieville.

Deputies responded to reports of car burglaries on Jan. 13 along Greenfield Crossing Drive, Joe Sevario Road and Moody Dixon Road. The sheriff’s office said wallets, cash and guns were stolen from unlocked cars.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office said Austin James Bihm, 19, of Prairieville was arrested in the case. He was charged with seven counts of vehicle burglary, three counts of criminal trespass, two counts of theft and two counts of theft of a firearm.

Two juveniles were also involved in the burglaries and will be arrested on similar charges, deputies said.

APSO tells residents to always lock their cars when unattended and keep valuable items out of sight.
