ASAP Rocky Responds to ASAP Relli's Lawsuit Accusing Rapper of Shooting Him

ASAP Rocky has responded to ASAP Relli’s civil lawsuit, in which he claims that he was shot by Rocky in Los Angeles last November.
Court documents obtained by Complex show that Rocky has denied Relli’s accusations. “Answering defendant generally denies each and every allegation of the complaint, and specifically denies that plaintiff has been damaged in any amount or in any way as a result of any act or omission of answering defendant,” Rocky’s latest filing reads.
In the filing, Rocky claims that Relli’s injuries and damages “were caused solely, directly and proximately by the negligent and/or intentional acts or omissions” of someone else. Additionally, it says that Relli “failed to exercise reasonable care to avoid the consequences of harm.”
In a statement shared with Complex, Rocky’s attorney Joe Tacopina called the lawsuit “an extortion” attempt.
“Rocky didn’t commit a crime,” Tacopina said. “It was an extortion attempted by a former associate, who threatened to make false criminal accusations if Rocky didn’t pay him. What will become abundantly clear in the upcoming months, based on facts and evidence, is that Rocky is innocent of these charges.”
Rolling Stone was the first to report on Rocky’s response. According to the outlet, Rocky’s lawyers have taken a broad approach to the civil charges since Rocky has also been hit with a criminal case and can’t speak to their defense theories just yet.
Relli filed the civil lawsuit against Rocky on Aug. 10 and is seeking monetary damages, alleging assault, battery, negligence, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
In August, Rocky pleaded not guilty to criminal charges, where he is facing two counts of using a semiautomatic firearm to assault Relli. Rocky is currently out on a $550K bond; however, he could be looking at up to nine years in prison if he’s found guilty.
