Arson suspected in Conway Walmart fire, police report says

CONWAY, S.C. (WBTW) — Last week’s fire inside the Walmart store on Church Street in Conway is being investigated as an arson, according to Conway police.

Conway firefighters were called out to a reported structure fire at about 1:20 p.m. on Feb. 19., but the fire was out by the time they arrived. No one was hurt, and the immediate area around the fire was closed to the public.

According to a police report, officers determined that the fire was intentionally set. However, the report does not provide any information about how the fire started or why arson is suspected.

No arrests have been made, and authorities also have not released any information about possible suspects.
