A man has been arrested and had two vehicles seized by police on suspicion of breaching an injunction that prevents street racing.

The 26-year-old was arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning on Heartlands Parkway in Birmingham.

West Midlands Police said he was also arrested for possible document offences and given warnings for anti-social driving.

The injunctions prohibit people driving, being a passenger or rider at a gathering where there is motor racing or motor stunts or other dangerous or obstructive driving.

The force said it introduced the ban on street racing in Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Dudley, Sandwell and Walsall to prevent vehicles being driven in an anti-social or dangerous manner.

Anyone breaching the ban could be ruled in contempt of court and could face penalties including imprisonment, a fine or an order to have their assets seized.

The man will appear before Birmingham County Court on Monday.
