Police officers found the victim just before 4 a.m. Wednesday. The victim died at the crime scene. The San Francisco Police Department said the knife attack happened on the 900 block of Geary Street, but did not specify which building on the block.

The suspected killer was quickly identified as Demetrice Ford, 47, of San Francisco, SFPD said.

SFPD told KRON4, “Officers were advised that (Ford) was currently still inside the building. Officers coordinated and developed a strategic plan to obtain a peaceful resolution and to have the suspect come out on their own accord.”

Ford eventually surrendered to police and he was booked into jail on homicide charges. SFPD did not release the victim’s name.
