Arrest made in Goddard Walmart shooting

GODDARD, Kan. (KSNW) – An arrest has been made in a shooting that happened at a Goddard Walmart on Saturday.

According to the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office, officers were dispatched at 4:57 p.m. to a call involving weapons at the Walmart located at 18631 W. Kellogg Dr. in Goddard.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found an 18-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound in a car in the parking lot.

He was taken to a hospital in serious condition. The SCSO says he has since been upgraded to being in a stable condition.

USD 261 confirmed the victim is a senior at Campus High School. Counselors are available for students affected.

Man killed after being pinned under car in west Wichita identified

The suspect, a 47-year-old man from Wichita, remained at the scene. When officers arrived, he was taken into custody, according to the SCSO.

After being interviewed, the man was booked into the Sedgwick County Detention Facility on suspicion of second-degree murder.

The SCSO did not say what led up to the shooting.

This case will be presented to the District Attorney’s Office for review of charges.
