Arrest after £300k worth of cocaine found in car

Police have seized a large amount of cocaine, with an estimated street value of over £300,000, after officers stopped a car near Exeter.

Devon and Cornwall Police said officers stopped the car on the A30 just before 22:00 BST on Monday and found the drugs in the vehicle.

Det Ch Insp Sam Smoothy said: "This was a great stop by officers who safely intercepted the transportation and distribution of multiple kilos of cocaine into Devon."

A 73-year-old man from Buckfastleigh has been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs. He remains in police custody.

Det Ch Insp Smoothy said: "Drugs have a detrimental impact on our communities, and we will pursue those who intended to commit crime here while supporting the vulnerable in our communities.

"No-one should put up with illegal drug activity and the associated crimes and behaviours, so I urge anyone with information, to please report it."
