Armed woman shot, killed in confrontation with Pasco deputies: PSO

HUDSON, Fla. - A woman is dead after being shot by Pasco County deputies on Thursday.

According to Sheriff Chris Nocco, deputies responded to a call around 3:30 p.m. from a passerby who said a woman with a knife flagged them down at a pet cemetery in the area of Denton Avenue and Dane Lane in Hudson.

Sheriff Nocco says Isabella North, 29, made threatening comments to the passerby, along with the dispatcher who took the call, including "I have been diagnosed as clinically insane" and "I really feel like I'm going to kill somebody."

Body camera video released by PSO shows deputies approaching North at the scene. She pulled out what Sheriff Nocco says was a 12-inch knife and refused to drop it despite repeated commands. That's when two deputies each fired one shot, hitting North.

No deputies were hurt in the incident.

"This subject was clearly going to kill somebody," Sheriff Nocco said during a news conference Thursday evening. "And had the deputies not done what they did, who knows what innocent citizen could have been killed by this subject out here tonight?"

The deputies involved in the shooting are on paid leave while the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) investigates, which is standard procedure.
