Armed robber takes nearly $90K in cash from Contra Costa County Fair employees

(KRON) — Two employees of the Contra Costa County Fair were robbed at gunpoint Monday as they made a sizable nightly deposit at a bank in Antioch, according to the Antioch Police Department.

Police officers responded at 2:18 a.m. to the BMO Bank location on the 2500 block of Somersville Road for the report of an armed robbery. Authorities contacted the two Contra Costa County Event Park employees who were conducting a nightly deposit at the bank after the fair had ended.

As the employees were making a deposit, police said an unknown suspect approached them with a firearm and robbed the victims of the fair’s money and their personal belongings. According to Antioch police, $87,750 was taken in the robbery.

No description of the suspect was made available.
