Armed Police Lock Down Site Where Van Hit Pedestrians at Finsbury Park

Police rushed to Seven Sisters Road in north London after a van hit pedestrians in the early hours of Monday, June 19. Police said there were “a number of casualties,” BBC reported.

In an incident described by the Muslim Council of Britain as a “violent manifestation of Islamophobia”, armed police marched onto Finsbury Park after a van slammed into pedestrians leaving a mosque.

Metropolitan Police confirmed one person was killed, another eight taken to hospital and two were treated on scene. The 48-year-old driver of the van was detained by members of the public and put into police custody. They confirmed the counter-terrorism police were investigating the incident.

Prime Minister Theresa May, as reported by BBC, described it as a “terrible incident”.
