'Armed and dangerous' man sought as person of interest in fatal shooting in Cameron

Police remained on the lookout for an "armed and dangerous" man following a deadly shooting in the area of a government building and a church Monday in Cameron, Arizona on the Navajo Nation.

According to the Navajo Police Department, the person of interest is Derick Myron, 44, who is described as 5-foot-10, with a slender build, black hair and brown eyes. Myron is possibly driving a black 2017 Ford pickup with a crew cab and a work rack with the New Mexico license plate SLAVK.

The shooting left one person dead and two others injured, leading to the since-lifted shelter-in-place order at the Cameron Chapter House, a local government building, and a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints temple in the area of U.S. 89 and Indian Route 6139, according to police.

"Myron is considered ARMED AND DANGEROUS. Do not approach him if you come in contact with him," read a Monday morning statement in a Facebook post by police that included the person of interest's photo.

Anyone with information about Myron's whereabouts or the Ford pickup is asked to call the Navajo Police Department at 928-283-3111, 928-283-3112 or 911.

The shelter-in-place order in the Cameron area has been lifted; however, there will continue to be a heavy law enforcement presence in the area.
