Arlington police make arrests after breaking up fight in Clarendon

ARLINGTON, Va. (DC News Now) — Two people and an officer were injured after Arlington police broke up a fight in Clarendon overnight Tuesday.

Around 1:40 a.m., Arlington County Police Department (ACPD) officers were called to the 3100 block of Clarendon Blvd., where many businesses, restaurants and bars are located.

Police believe that several people were involved in a fight outside of a business. An officer found one of the suspects who was involved and tried to take him into custody, but he did not comply and tried to run away.

More officers responded and took him into custody.

ACPD said that two victims who stayed around had minor injuries. The officer who was injured also had minor injuries. Nobody needed any medical treatment.

Police said that 26-year-old George Pena of Woodbridge was charged with assault and battery, obstruction of justice and public intoxication.

Two other men, also from Woodbridge, were also arrested and charged with public intoxication.
