When Arkansas takes on Texas A&M next week, it will wear special uniforms to honor Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, a former Razorbacks player and Arkansas graduate, for his recent induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The game will be played at AT&T Stadium, Dallas’ home field, and the Razorbacks will closely resemble the Cowboys — except for one major difference. You can’t miss it.

Even as a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, I can admit this is a pretty cool idea and creative way to pay tribute to Jones, who played for the Razorbacks in the ’60s and was a co-captain on the 1964 national championship team.

“What do you give a man who’s had everything and now is going into the Pro Football Hall of Fame? When I saw this idea, I thought, ‘There it is,’” Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long said in a statement.

Added Jones: “I don’t know that I’ve had anything happen to me that has been as meaningful as this gesture from the University of Arkansas.”

Arkansas, 1-1 on the year, was off this weekend, while A&M improved to 2-1 with a win over Louisiana-Lafayette. The game is scheduled for an 11 a.m. CT kickoff next Saturday.
