Arkansas Broadband Office Roadshow makes stop in Benton County

BENTON COUNTY, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — The State Broadband Office is making stops around Arkansas to talk about internet access and a billion-dollar grant program.

On Thursday, it made a stop in Benton County.

The program will bring internet connection to people and businesses without it. The state is asking the public to give input on the broadband map.

You just enter your address, see your current internet status, and you can challenge it if you think it needs to be changed.

“We have to attack all three pillars of broadband in Arkansas not just the access piece, but also the affordability piece and also the digital skills component as well and make sure we have a holistic approach to eliminating the digital divide in the state,” State Broadband Director Glen Howie said.

There are about 115,000 homes and businesses in Arkansas that need internet access.
