Arkansan talks about PACT ACT benefits two years after bill passed

LITTLE ROCK, Ark- Millions of military veterans have something to look forward to after President Biden announced the approval of $1 Million in Pact Act claims nationwide.

Arkansas native Bill Rhodes advocated for the act to be approved after facing his own disparities with his health. He said years ago when his claim was denied he realized he had to do something to help all veterans.

Over 1 million claims related to toxic exposure granted under new veterans law, Biden announces

“This was actually the going through an act of congress as an individual and it has proven to me that one person can still make a difference,” Rhodes said.

Millions of claims have been granted nationwide, and in Arkansas 19,000 have filled their claims.

The benefits will go towards veterans exposed to hazardous chemicals, medical waste and other toxic substances while in service. The law added 23 illnesses to that list of conditions.

Rhodes’ advice to veterans now is to learn what conditions they may have and apply for the benefits.
