Ark River cleanup this weekend in Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – The Ark River cleanup is on Saturday, April 27. The event will kick off downtown with in-person registration. It will start at 8:30 a.m. at 151 North Waco in the parking lot north of the Drury Hotel.

Preregistration can be made via arkrivercleanup.org. Already, 1,200 volunteers have signed up.

Stretch of active weather after mid-week

Things to know:

  • Register in-person to receive a free t-shirt (while supplies last), trash bags, gloves, and trash grabbers between 8:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. at First Street and Waco

  • Wear sturdy shoes and clothes that can get muddy. Drinking water will be provided.

  • Free transportation will be provided from the registration site to the river for the cleanup activities

  • After the cleanup, starting at 11:30 a.m., a free lunch will be served, including grilled burgers from Cargill, brats from Walton’s, hot dogs, chips, and beverages

Event organizers say nearly 40 tons of trash has been collected over the last two decades of the event.
