Arizona woman, already facing homicide charge, is accused of a stabbing

PROVIDENCE − A 35-year-old Arizona woman who was charged in a homicide earlier this year is now accused of stabbing a man during an attempted robbery at the Providence bus terminal last year.

Surveillance video recorded at both the terminal and at the 7-Eleven store across the street shows Dusti Turner following a man, pulling at his coat from behind, punching him and then kicking him, say prosecutors.

The man freed himself from Turner and ran toward the terminal and Turner fled the scene, according to a news release issued Friday by the Office of Attorney General Peter F. Neronha.

Neronha's spokesman, Brian Hodge, said that prosecutors had charged Turner on April 19 through the criminal information process.

Providence police had gone to the scene at 4:19 p.m. on Dec. 15 in response to a reported stabbing, prosecutors say.

The officers found the man with a stab wound to his leg and applied a tourniquet to stop the bleeding.

The man later told investigators that he knew Turner by a nickname, "Red," and that they had lived together at a residence on Dexter Street before he moved out.

He identified her as the person who attacked him when investigators presented a photo lineup, prosecutors say.

Police interviewed the man in late February soon after Turner had been charged with murder and accused of killing 30-year-old Katherine Gascoigne of Providence. This was shortly after Gascoigne's body was found in the Woonasquatucket River, across from 297 Promenade St., on Feb. 22.

Turner and another woman, Aja Lovett, were charged with first-degree murder and felony conspiracy in that case in February.

Turner is now being held without bail at the Adult Correctional Institutions in Cranston.

The additional charges announced by prosecutors on Friday are assault with intent to rob, assault resulting in serious bodily injury and conspiracy to commit robbery.
