Arizona school district bans distressed clothing

Enjoy those fashionably distressed jeans while you can, kids. Come this fall, they’ll be banned from at least one school district. As Today’s News Herald in Lake Havasu, Ariz., reports, the Lake Havasu Unified School District’s governing board voted this week to implement a new dress code that will forbid students from wearing clothing that is “torn, tattered, or frayed.” That includes jeans, shorts, and pants that have holes or rips.
