Arizona Diamondbacks Prospect Surprises His Parents by Paying Off Their Mortgage for Christmas
A newly drafted player in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization has given his parents an incredible Christmas gift that they will never forget.
Pavin Smith, 21, a seventh overall pick in the 2017 amateur baseball draft, paid off his parents’ mortgage and detailed his gratitude to them in a heartfelt letter.
The first baseman, who turned pro over the summer, then posted a video of their reactions and a message on Twitter.

"Thank you for raising me in a great home filled with love," he wrote in the letter. "Because of all the sacrifices you made to get me where I am, I want our family home to be yours."
He was able to pay off their debt with some of the proceeds from a $5 million bonus signing bonus he earned in June after was drafted by the Diamondbacks.
