Ariana Grande weighs in on Pete Davidson's Manchester bombing joke: 'I of course didn't find it funny'

Ariana Grande is speaking out about the controversial joke Pete Davidson made about her and the Manchester bombing.

The unearthed bit came from an event Davidson appeared at last fall — months before he and the “No More Tears Left to Cry” singer began dating. He quipped that he realized how famous Grande was because “Britney Spears didn’t have a terrorist attack at her concert.”

Grande, 25, made her feelings known about it on Thursday when replying to a disappointed fan — and she’s conflicted over the whole thing.

Grande added, “i hear and respect you all always.”

The May 2017 bombing that occurred during Grande’s show in the U.K. left 22 people dead. Charlotte Hodgson, whose daughter Olivia Campbell-Hardy was killed in the terrorist attack, condemned the joke earlier this week.

“For anyone to joke about this situation is disgusting and I think he should publicly apologize for it,” Hodgson told the Mirror. “The families will find it equally as disgusting. We don’t need jokes about it, there have been plenty around, and it’s heartbreaking to hear every day.”

Hodgson also said she believed Grande “would be horrified too.”

A representative for Davidson defended the joke in a statement earlier this week: “He is a comedian. No subject is off limits and that includes jokes about his father and 9/11.” The 24-year-old Saturday Night Live star has been known to include jokes about his father and the September 11 attacks in his performances.

Clearly, this isn’t going to derail Grande and Davidson’s high-speed romance. The pair got engaged in June after only a few weeks of dating and are reportedly eyeing a winter wedding.
