Argentina beat baby Bafana

Football fans in Cape Town were treated to the opening games of the 8 Nations Under 20 International Football Challenge at Athlone Stadium. In Friday's match between South Africa and Argentina played at 18h00, wet weather didn't deter the spirits of La Albiceleste who beat Bafana Bafana 3-1. The hosts went down to a very organised Argentinean side who dominated most of the game with goals from the captain Lisandro Magallan opening up the scoring in the first half. Franco Fragapane doubled the lead early in the second half before Allan Aguirre then scored a lovely header for Argentina while the host's netted a consolation through substitute Thabani Mthembu. Later in the evening Ghana and Nigeria went head to head, with the Black Stars edging the Super Eagles 3-2. The two African nations put on a show with all goals coming in the second half. Nigeria went into the game as underdogs but took the lead twice (1-0) and (2-1) although the Ghanaians proved their worth by finishing on top despite last minute efforts from Nigeria.
